Brook Band Places Sixth at UIL Area

Saturday, October 23 2004

The Clear Brook Band continued its years-long tradition of performing in the rain at the UIL Area marching competition Saturday! The band made its best ever showing since Clear Brook became a 5A school, by placing sixth in the preliminary competition. (When Brook was a smaller 4A school, the band went to the state marching contest twice.) This year, the top 10 bands in the UIL Area preliminary round were to perform again in the evening for a chance to attend the state competition. Because of the possibility that rain would continue, a majority of the finalists' band directors voted to forego the finals competition and send the top four bands in the preliminaries to the state marching contest.

The Clear Brook Band debuted their newly colorful uniform jackets at Friday night's football game and then wowed the judges with straight ones at the UIL Region XIX Marching Contest on Saturday! The rating means Brook will join other bands with a first division rating at the UIL Area Marching Contest, again at Galena Park ISD Stadium, on Saturday, October 23. Brook's performance time will be announced early in the week. If Brook places in the top seven in the preliminary rounds next Saturday, the band will play again in the evening for a chance to go to the State Marching Contest at the Alamodome in San Antonio. Stay tuned!
