Well-Organized Contest Showcases Outstanding Indoor Percussion and Winter Guard

Last weekend, Clear Brook Band demonstrated it could put on a well-organized contest and still showcase its outstanding percussion and guard groups. Brook's indoor percussion ensemble, the only group in the Scholastic Marching World Class, earned 89.0 points, the top score of all classes, in the preliminaries and a score of 88.8 in finals. Varsity guard placed third in its division with a score of 83.40. Junior varsity guard earned a second place trophy in the novice class with a score of 76.70, just four-tenths of a point from first place. Congratulations to the students, and thank you to all the volunteers!

Clear Brook Band is hosting a gigantic contest this weekend, and we need more parent and student help! We have 230-plus shifts to fill. Our greatest need is for men who are both strong and strong-willed in areas such as parking lot management and security. Volunteers receive free admission to the event, which features about 75 top winter guards and drumlines from around the state. Admission to the event all day is otherwise $15.

Guard Makes Finals Twice in a Row

Clear Brook's varsity winter guard made it two weeks in a row by going to finals first in the WGI Houston Regional on March 4 and then again last weekend in the WGI Super Regional in Dallas. Their most recent prelims score was 77.65. Congratulations!

Percussion Scores 86.7 Points at Round Rock

At Round Rock last weekend, Clear Brook's indoor percussion ensemble again was the only competitor in its class. Only one ensemble in a different class topped Brook's score of 86.7 points, a two-point improvement over the group's first contest performance.

Indoor Percussion Scores 84.8

Clear Brook's indoor percussion ensemble scored 84.8 points in its first 2006 contest appearance last Saturday. Brook was the only competitor in the Scholastic Marching World Class and earned the second highest percussion score at the Texas Color Guard Circuit competition at Cypress Springs High School.
